My botanical journey

I’m a Finnish painter and plant scientist in the making. 

I completed my master’s degree in plant physiology and development in 2020. Currently, I'm working as a doctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki. My PhD project investigates stomatal immunity responses and aims to enhance our understanding of plant-pathogen interactions on a molecular level.

In addition to my academical career I’ve expanded my passion for plants to art and aesthetics. Delving into the world of botanical illustrations in 2015, I soon found out the most captivating way to learn more about plants and their morphology is painting.

I believe that one of the best aspects of life is the excitement we get by observing and discovering the marvels of nature. By combining science and art I aspire to share that sense of wonder, and most importantly, spread the appreciation for plant life.
